Before bringing your pets here, I would HIGHLY recommend exhausting all other options. This place is an absolute SCAM! My family and I went on vacation and we took our dogs to a boarding facility. About a week into being there, my American Bully began vomiting a foreign object and having bloody diarrhea. She was taken to a vet that the boarding facility uses and it was recommended to take her to an emergency vet because they were not equipped to deal with her situation. She was admitted into the ICU, at ISU Veterinary College for $2,500, where she was given fluids, pain medication and xrays. The vet who was in charge of her case had called me and said there was still a foreign object in her stomach and they would need to do a CT scan, that would cost another $2,000 and if she needed surgery, it would cost another $11,000. I was told because they had seen an object on her xrays, she would more than likely need surgery. Meanwhile, we are in the car, driving 23 hours in 2 days to try to get back to our dog as fast as we can because it is sounding like she isn't going to make it without having to have surgery. All while being promised by 3 different employees at this vet that we can see her as soon as we get there. I don't know about you, but I dont have $13,000 laying around, so I called my primary vet, explained the situation and he agreed to take her the next morning and do surgery if necessary. We finally make it to ISU, just to be told we can't see our dog because they're "too busy". So, we checked into a hotel 5 minutes away and waited to pick her up the following morning. The next morning, we arrive to pick her up and it took them over 30 minutes just to bring her out and charged us another almost $200 just to keep her the night before. Her skin was completely broken out, open sores all over the back of her legs and butt, along with her vagina being completely swollen. Not one antibiotic was given to her for this. We drive another 2 hours to get her to our primary vet. Once we get there, xrays were immediately taken, where it was found that there was absolutely nothing in her stomach but gas and her intestines were inflamed in some areas. Our vet told us there was absolutely no reason for our dog to have surgery and if she would've had surgery, she more than likely wouldn't have survived, due to the state she was in when she was admitted. All she needed was antibiotics for her skin, medication to reduce the inflammation in her intestines and fluids. She was monitored for 2 days to make sure she was eating and drinking normally and having solid bowel movements. When we picked her up, she was completely back to normal and happy. THE FACT THAT ANY VET WOULD RECOMMEND AN ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY SURGERY IN ORDER TO MAKE MONEY AND TEACH THEIR STUDENTS IS BEYOND DISTURBING AND DISGUSTING! Save your time and money and take your pets to a vet who is TRUSTED AND EXPERIENCED.
